Whether it's traditional fiberglass or blown cellulose, we can bring your attic/walls to any desired R-Value, ensuring a comfortable living space while also providing you maximum energy efficiency. A home that is improperly insulated can waste thousands of dollars attempting to maintain comfortability.
Air sealing is the process of locating and sealing all the nooks, crannies, gaps and open seams throughout your attic. Air sealing resolves any excess airflow to ensure your home has all the fresh air you need, without wasting energy. Most commonly this will be the tops of your walls or any penetrations in in the building envelope.
Sometimes you need to take things away before you can make them better!
Whether it be an over-insulated attic, a messy cellulose blow, or mangled fiberglass from rodents, we offer insulation removal services for any reason you may have. Keep in mind, not all cellulose is built the same, and making the switch could make all the difference!
Whilst you want your attic to be tightly sealed & insulated, it is imperative to allow air to flow into the attic to prevent moisture and mold from building. Allowing the attic to breathe is a crucial step many insulators overlook, and is something we take into consideration for every job we do. Soffit baffles allow air to flow up from your soffit into the attic allowing enough airflow to prevent any moisture buildups.
Many times when evaluating an inefficient home, we find the ductwork to be disconnected, mangled, or simply done wrong. This goes for air conditioners, bathroom fans, and dryer vents. There's no easier way to waste energy & money then conditioning the only part of your home you don't use! Our most common duct/vent services include:
-Adding mastic and insulated wrap to ducts
-Re-venting bathroom fans
-Re-Venting Dryer
Whilst the cellulose we use has a Class 1 fire rating, there are more ways we provide safety in your attic. Fire caulking provides an extra peace of mind for our customers to limit all potential fire hazards from heat producing fixtures. Additionally, keeping the heat each light produces in the home is a great way to save energy and heat during the winter.
It is important to know that even if most of your attic is insulated, air will always find ways to escape. To ensure we cover everything as best we can, we provide insulated hatch covers by adding an insulated board to your existing hatch, or adding a zip-up attic tent, sealing off your access for when it is not being used.
A properly installed vapor barrier will restrict the flow of moisture and help prevent damage to critical parts of a home’s structure. Excess moisture can cause mold, rot, and corrosion to your home and attract pests like termites and rodents.
Spray Foam, or SPF, is a high-performance insulation material commonly used in homes and buildings. The use of the material can dramatically reduce the energy costs associated with heating and cooling while helping to keep the home interior comfortable year-round, even as the seasons change. We do warn our customers that once spray foam is applied, it cannot be undone.
The best way to protect your pipes is with pipe insulation! Not only does it prevent your pipes from freezing in the winter, it minimizes heat loss from hot water pipes providing maximum energy efficiency leading to lower heating costs!
Similar to how your attic needs insulation to contain conditioned air, your crawlspace/basement does too! Most people don't realize that their energy is quite literally slipping out under their feet! You want your home to be tightly sandwhiched by insulation minmize any conditioned air from escaping along with your hard earned money!
Insulated board can have many uses in what we do. Most commonly, we will use it to insulate areas that fiberglass or cellulose isn't an option such as in kneewalls or underneath a mobile home. It can also be utilized in the crawl space as a draft blocker between the bays on the perimiter of the home.
Upon arriving to your home, our team will test all gas appliances to assure no excess amounts of carbon monoxide are putting you or your family at risk. We will also run a combustion test on the hot water heater and furnace to check for correct draft and temperature levels.
Over a third of home fire deaths happen in a home with no smoke alarms present. We install combination detectors that can detect both smoke and unsafe levels of carbon monoxide, allowing you peace of mind and a safe home.
Feel like your doors are letting in cold air during the winter? Or maybe cool air is escaping in a particular room in your home during the summer? Greenstar can fix it by installing weatherstripping on any size door!
Caulking your windows can help to seal gaps between the frame and wall to seal any potential draft from escaping or moisture from entering. Leaky windows lead to hefty repair costs, and sealing up every seam and crack will help save any conditioned air from escaping!
The Blower door test in an important part of our process. Usually, we run a test both before and after our job. For this test, a temporary door is fitted into your front or back door with a fan. When turned on, the air in your home is blown out, allowing us to measure how airtight your house is. This not only shows you the impact and benefit of the work we do, but also givies us an opportunity to identify any potential duct disconnections or ventilation problems in your home.
